    I never did trust this thing. Even if it has been reliable until now, it was never a good idea, from a security/privacy perspective, to route your users' communications through some 3rd party site.

    Worse, perhaps, it uses Flash in browsers lacking HTML5 WebSockets.

    There's no need for it now that all the major browsers have supported WebSockets for at least 2-3 years.

      what do you suggest to use instead? I was looking into building an app w socket io but I am open to ideas :)

        May I suggest.... WebSockets?

          So you could do anything using a pure implementation even chatrooms, multiplexing, encryption, etc.. just without using socket.io right?
