back to article Ever heard of 'multi-cloud'? Get with cool kids – it's the New Big Thing™

Hybrid cloud is so yesterday – multi-cloud is where it’s at. Spreading your cloud apps between different providers is now becoming a trend. Four in five firms were using multi-cloud services last year, according to cloud firm RightScale. Six in 10 UK companies used more than one provider, said Adapt a year earlier. There are …

Gave me a chuckle, especially since in these parts "Baas" is what we call the Boss, so spot on.

So instead of dealing with one, in house, IT department the client/user gets to deal with a broker and three to five purveyors of cloudy goodness? Yeah, that'll make things really easy, sign me up!

New Wordies for those clever, clever, little boys and girls

I see a full circle back to desktop coming round the corner attached to netware 2.15.

I'd like to donate a new word to The IT wordy stewfest, it's called 'Outage cloud' This cloud will benefit over eager IT managers ( You know, the ones who never shut thier fuc**** faces at any gathering, even a christening) who with little knowledge of the legal pitfalls commit the business to to unknown forces where 'Force Majeure' is king and muppetry sits right next to it.

Rant over, can I have my special jacket on again!

Everyone missed "Composable Cloud" which is the thing that happens after hyper converged cloud and omniconveged cloud. I'm sure there's a Gartner or IDC report that has that in there somewhere.

Having said that Hybrid cloud was ALWAYS multi-cloud as per the NIST definition (which is pretty much the gold standard for defining what a cloud is or isn't).

    vis

"Hybrid cloud. The cloud infrastructure is a composition of two or more distinct cloud infrastructures (private, community, or public) that remain unique entities, but are bound together by standardized or proprietary technology that enables data and application portability (e.g., cloud bursting for load balancing between clouds)"
