Closet? The psychiatric ward, I say.
Try to read De Raadt's and all the psychophant choir, er, I mean the core team's slide presentations of the last two decades. Comic Sans each and eveyone ot them. The tool they NIHed to create those presentations (mmg, if memory serves right) is hard-wired to the damn font. That's not a joke but abnormal communication skills. Blech!

Well, then I should have thought Vulture South ought to be making some heartfelt apologies and attempting to smooth things over because we all know what level-headed, accommodating, nice and reasonable people those OpenBSD maintainers are when it comes to public communications and taking a joke at their [slight] expense.
In fact, why doesn't El Reg publish itself in Comic Sans for the rest of the day to make up for it?
Actually, I would quite like to see that. Maybe not for a whole day though.

I hate this.
Now nothing is pure, nothing is undefiled. Even OpenBSD -- "security by coding perfection" -- has been found wanting.
Surely this is a nation-state level attack. An insertion of Comic Sans in OpenBSD could only be the result of some vile but wily hacksters supported by a clandestine national agency.

Robert Norton's Legacy?
His gravestone will probably be rocking from his laughter.
I can't imagine that Robert's decision to include this face in Microsoft's Font Pack1, which is the main reason for its widespread use, was other than to poke fun. He didn't have much time for single-minded commercialism, nor for those whose sense of style failed to notice when something was crass or tacky.

I have found, over a large number of years, that Comic Sans is useful for two reasons:
1) to indicate that the content is not to be taken seriously
2) because on some seriously crap hardware, it is actually the most legible font from the MS kit.
Sure there are other, better, fonts, but are they available at the other end of the comms line?
