Software engineer Laxman Muthiyah has reported a dangerous vulnerability capable of deleting any photo from Facebook, prompting The Social NetworkTM to patch the hole within two hours and issue one of its biggest bug-spotting cheques ever. Cheque $12,500 USD

$12,500 as the biggest cheque so far from facebook makes it unlikely that people could make a living from this. However it is a nice bonus.

And it's chump change compared to how much they'll lose without those photos. You know they've been stealing^H^H^H^H^H^H^H legally onselling their user's photos. That would equate to a considerable amount above mere chump change.

$12,500 is *all* the money they had available. (The rest is offshore, avoiding tax!) ;-)

It is an insultingly poor gesture given the number of testicles saved from the chop by such a find. Would it really hurt Farcebook that much to stick a zero on the end and give the odd bug-finder a jackpot commensurate with what Farcebook developers earn when writing these bugs?

      Jokers.

    Pity that.

We need to find the Zuck Bug to delete him.... <sigh>

It's the equivalent of a vulture nipple slip. You have show a bit of code to the geeks to keep them interested.

    And?

Do people only store pics on FB and nowhere else?

Do they think they own them?

Would the servers of the world fall over when the missing cat pics and selfies are uploaded again?

    Good grief.

Yes, an awful lot of people do just that.

Do they think they own them?

      What?

Would the servers of the world fall over when the missing cat pics and selfies are uploaded again?

No, but a lot of people don't have another copy

      Good grief.

      Yes...

OMG! So glad they caught this one!

What would I do without access to 16 million photos of people's plates of food?

    does anyone give a shit?

since nobody ever looks at a FB photo that's more than a week old, presumably after a week, everything would be back to normal anyway

The former deputy chief constable of Greater Manchester 's family is entitled to a Facebook page, just like everyone else. Of course, whether or not they'd want it is another matter.

I was on FB a few years ago, and found that the time would have been better spent playing solitaire. Methinks that rather than fixing a bug, they've removed a "feature".
