    You're not really building an OS if you're using Linux or Unix style underpinnings. Even OSX is Unix style.

    Creating something new hasn't happened for ages. BeOS was probably the last big attempt at doing something new. It's a shame it didn't take off as it pissed all over Windows performance-wise.

    OSv by cloudius systems Is another newcomer trying to be a cloud OS. Takes a different approach to mesosphere. Is Open Source. Worth checking out.

    And if I'm not much mistaken, Java is a dependency. No thanks, I'll not get on this tank.

    I'm far more excited by what the likes of CoreOS are doing.
