    Obvious question: Where's the C in VCE?

    Looks like VCE's future may be in jeopardy as the new EVO solution has the V+E. Clearly Cisco's John Chambers claiming VMware is Enemy #1 was spot on. Will be interesting to read future articles over the next days, weeks and months on what EVO means to this triad relationship.

      "Looks like VCE's future may be in jeopardy as the new EVO solution has the V+E......" Well, it is an appliance, not a cluster of systems, so no real need for networking. I suspect CISCO might be introduced in the part of the conversation relating to connecting the field office appliance back to the central vCentre instance.

    VCE is not an SMB play, it's entry point is way too high, and "Marvin," will not be a competitor at all.

    If anything this puts many of the SMB/mid-sized storage arrays at risk. Who needs a Nimble or Lefthand or converged Nutanix when you can get something like marvin?

      If that's the case then why would someone want VNXe or even ScaleIO, when you can get something like Marvin ?

      Oh I don't know, perhaps the people who use more features than the ability to share disk? Perhaps those who use SAN for backup purposes too.

    Price points will determine the space

    Lots of holes in this offering. 10GbE Only, Ent+ licensing only. Smaller ROBO sites wont be needing that much horsepower as well. Not bad for a fledgling effort but expect it to change.
