So, while everyone else is making plans to move out of Scotland if the referendum goes badly, HP is moving in? They really are in touch with modern trends, aren't they.
The Public and Commercial Services union is to ballot members working at HP over 600 planned job cuts to the services operation in the latest futile exercise to influence the company's decision making. As world + dog knows, HP's Make It Better Programme to rationalise the workforce is due to conclude by the end of October, by …
Hmm, some might disagree with you over your use of "goes badly" . The exact definition does depend on your viewpoint vis a vis an independent Scotland.
HP has specialist teams based in a lot more volatile political situations than the current and possible prospective ones here in the UK e.g. Egypt. I would wager that Head Office won't be losing any sleep about the commercial implications of a "Yes" vote in September . Of course, they will be delaying any decision over moving defence and government related jobs till after the referendum.

A Mother's wedding night advice in the Victorian Age was "Close your eyes and think of England."
I have a sneaking suspicion that neither England's Daughters nor Scotland's Daughters have any doubts about what HP has planned for them.
I was made redundant from HP in January of this year. At the time my role was very important (or so I thought) and HP were emploting extra contractors to help with the work load. The only people to suffer will be the customers, and I hope they react when they see thier vital services failing due to lack of staff......
"HP have made it clear that the relocation of staff from affected sites is not their desired option and would prefer to continue to focus on a mass recruitment campaign which has already seen a large number of university graduates and Modern Apprentices being recruited at sites as as Cobalt," the letter claimed.
Hmmm....sounds like age discrimination to me....what would Bill and Dave say (and yes, I was around then)... Of course, they wouldn't have gotten into this jam in the first place. And, they DID adapt to changing times, and did so with the workers in mind.
"Europe is the last region to face the axe, with 7,100 layoffs planned for this fiscal .. HP .. would prefer to continue to focus on a mass recruitment campaign which has already seen a large number of university graduates and Modern Apprentices being recruited at sites as as Cobalt"
Why is HP firing 7,100 and having a "mass recruitment campaign" at the same time?
