    Bold move putting all your eggs in one basket. EMC would be better being vendor agnostic to support a true hybrid market.

    EMC still have eggs in all the baskets, this is just one basket, VCE is another etc.

    EMC may own VMware, but that doesn't mean the 'are' VMware.

    Why would they shoot themselves in the foot and not compete in the Hyper-V market storage-wise?

    huh?

    I'm not sure what the big deal is here. VSPEX is supported on vSphere. Every storage company provides choice for customers supporting multiple hypervisors, operations systems, applications etc. Perhaps someone got a bit excited with the headline. If you think EMC and VMware aren't strategically working together then you're delusional.
