      Hi, Anonymous Coward. I am the WW product marketing manager at HDS for data protection software. Thank you for asking about AIMstor, which is now Hitachi Data Instance Manager (HDIM). We are continuing to invest heavily in this technology and see it as our platform for delivering the full range of modern data protection, retention and recovery capabilities (CDP, application-aware snapshot and replication management, archiving, and yes, backup) that critical applications and data require, and to do it in a unified way.

      There are no plans to integrate HDIM with Symantec's or CommVault's products, but instead to use it to leverage and manage the storage-based technologies available with HDS systems, including snapshots, replication, cloning and archiving (we've already released Windows file and and e-mail archiving to Hitachi Content Platform).

      Stay tuned - you will be seeing some exciting enhancements to HDIM announced soon.
