back to article Off your bikie laws: Anonymous to Queensland Premier Newman

Queensland's police force is investigating the posting of an Anonymous-identified video to YouTube protesting the state's anti-bikie laws, and also the publication of premier Campbell Newman's private mobile number and home address online. The government describes the laws as serving the purpose of dismantling outlaw …

and provide more excuses for the return of Joh like government. Media already poncing on as if Anon had threatened physical harm instead of the usual DOS and defacement of some little believed website. Draconian assembly laws not unique in Oz. Back in the Vietnam moritorium protest days, WA had a law requiring all gatherings over 5(?) people to be approved by fuzz. Not enforced, AFAIK, but great for an instant offence if required to packup unwanted aggregations of people. For some reason this did not cause any media comment. Perhaps a Manchester massacre event which perturbed even the conservative Duke of Wellington is about the only thing left that can create a sense that there have to be some limits to reactionary jackboot responses from simplistic pollies and their overly enthusiastic unfocused law enforcement. I hope it does not get that far. The Qld fuzz senior management must never have got the idea that they are meant to serve, not manage with the idea that one has to humbly request permission to do ones lawful thing.

So, which rock does he live under?

    Joh Beilke Petersen is back.

I remember the "two people are a crowd, three are a riot, and that you would virtually need a passport to get in and out of Queensland" sayings back in the day. They weren't just jokes for nothing.

The address & phone numbers were also posted on Facebook a couple of months ago by some peckerhead apprentice who thought it'd be funny to share a photo of a Newman service invoice.

But yeah, with today's news of the police union going over the head of the comissioner and directly asking the police minister for additional body armor, semi-automatic weapons, and the right to take weapons home with them if they wish, this is looking frighteningly like a return to the Bjelke-Petersen days.

I'm just waiting for the Newman gov't to pluck some idiot inspector from the arse-end of nowhere and promote him to Assistant Comissioner...

Can't blame the bikies or the police.

Bikies won't want to be arrested as the slightest crime will get 15 to 25 years tacked on top. If they're going to put you away for life, it might as well be for murder and not just a joint.

The police need better armour and weapons if bikies have no interest in coming peacefully anymore.

      1. Tac Eht Xilef

Has there been a rash of bikies not 'coming peacefully' recently that I'm unaware of? No? Then someone needs to explain exactly why the police suddenly need new armor and guns in the face of ... the same level of 'threat' that has existed all along.

Simple truth is that Candiru Campbell decided to pull the old political favourite "law and order" stunt, chose bikies as the target least likely to gain any public sympathy, and upped the stakes considerably by going way OTT with mandatory sentencing dependent on factors incidental to the actual crime. Now comes the narrative that the bikies are 'reacting' to the increased threat of the dick-fish's 'tough new laws', and so the police need help.

And now the police union in Qld - as complicit in the Joh-era corruption as Joh, Big Russ, & Terry themselves - is taking the opportunity to bypass the command structure and request their new toys directly from the minister responsible for administering the whole dog-and-pony show.

"Beautiful one day, police state the next"? Yeah. And now you're seeing exactly how it happens...

      the Next ....?

Anyway remember hearing about Australian Miners strikes, Eureka Stockade or Ned's rebellion etc over last 200 years ? IF Government/Business get shits, they will send the army in, forget History, Internet, when it comes to crunch, they will settle it, their way ...

    There's always Adelaide

City of churches and disturbing sex crimes - and better than average civil liberties.

It's a bit boring though (apart from the sex crimes).

    Pot calling the kettle black.

How do these cyber terrorists think that what they are doing is any better than what Campbell is doing? Morons running around in masks using threats to try and intimidate a properly democratically elected government. Anonymous people making threats to control how we think. That seems like a bigger threat to civil liberty than these laws will ever be.

Campbell may have gone too far. Time will tell. The people of Qld will let him know at the next election. The Qld parliamentary terms only run for three years so the next election will be here all too soon.

If you don't like what he has done, take off your mask, present some arguments and not threats and get yourself elected. That is how grown up people handle this.

Posted anonymously because their threats have intimidated someone who wishes the right to free speech.

dear AC. A terrorist does actual harm. You know, humans leaking blood and so on. A bunch of script kiddies with egos are more of an annoyance, like PETA. Some economic loss, a bit more work for the sysadmins and hopefully better managed IT. As for people of Qld, have you lived there ? Thought not. Political arguments in Oz consist of shouting matches and pissing contests. For unknown reasons or lack thereof, the populace like it that way or almost none of the current crop would be elected IMNSHO. Like the lizard overlords in elected Hitchhiker Guide {S} Finally, see what local fuzz have assessed the situation as; . http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-11-05/police-say-no-offences-over-anonymous-online-vid-against-newman/5070714. Take two tablespoons of cement and harden up, OK ?
