    'a foreign company with significant ties to China'?

    What ties?

    Japanese hate doing business with Chinese typically, and I certainly couldn't find any 'significant ties' between SoftBank and China on initial searching.

      I think it has something to do with the Japanese not being quite as err challenged as the Yanks and purchase reasonably priced Chinese hardware instead of forking out twice as much for US hardware made in the same factory as the Chinese hardware.
