The US defeated the Soviet Union and now it has a huge State Security apparatus spying on its citizens and making travel difficult for anyone suspected of thoughtcrime. North Vietnam defeated the US and now it has all the abuses of capitalism. Germany and Japan might think that, overall, it's often better to lose a war.
Yup, Germany got someone else to remove the evil Nazi government, though the Eastern part of the country had to endure an added 40-ish year period under the DDR and the Stasi. After reunification, the new reunited Germany made a point of respecting citizen's privacy and making sure that it will never, ever happen again.

You are being sensitive. It was my attempted humourous way of pointing out that the USA and Russia have never been at war, so the USA can never have "defeated" Russia. I do not need any citation.
You can only seriously argue that the Soviet Union (not Russia) and the US were never at war if you exclude proxy wars and economic warfare. A lot of the current mess in the Middle East started when the US trained and armed Islamists for a proxy war in Afghanistan, and the US is still there fighting its own former proxies.
Economic warfare is just as deadly as the shooting kind. In fact, they tend to shade into one another.
At 4m dong a time, it would have been a good business (considering Vietnamese prices). Just wondering, though, if she was running this out of Hanoi, maybe catering to business coming out of Guangzhou rather than westerners. Maybe she'll just pay the fine and carry on business through weixin (which the cops haven't discovered yet).
Since most illegal activity here has at least consent from some level of law enforcement.
Also using facebook wasn't the best approach in vietnam since they half heartedly block it here. Googling in vietnamese the latest Facebook bypass tells you new DNS servers and IPs for your host file that get around it, but have to be updated every couple of months.
Strangely the BBC is also blocked, but i find that more comical.
So, these girls-"associates" had a more or less secure way of finding and screening clients, high level of fees, more or less defined minimum work place standards.
Now, they have been "saved" from all that, so that they are faced with working on the streets for peanuts, in unsafe environment and will risk rape and murder - and that if they won't just simply be jailed....
So much for the "saving".

Er, no. I hesitate to offer any worldly advice to you, or give direct links, but try Googling for "Vietnam escorts" for example. The issue here is whether Facebook wishes to be the vehicle for this trade.
I don't really care what Facepuke wants or doesn't want. Also, Facepuke clearly ignored what was going on, T&Cs be damned... The article is not so much about Facepuke removing Madam's page but about virtuous Vietnamese cops using it to track and shut her down. But again, I don't care much about that either. For me, the article just highlighted the glaring immorality of outlawing prostitution...
I've got no problem with outlawing pimps. Too much involvement with young runaways and such here in Social Services seeing what really goes on in the Bay Area with prostitution run by gangs and such to buy the "victimless crime" angle when the whole "protection" racket is involved.
A system of co-op with independent businesswomen (or men or whatever) where there is no forced profit sharing would be the best place to start out until society is accepting the practice and the whole thing gets regulated and cheapened down to McDonald's type prices. Add plenty of government inspectors like we do for health reasons for everyone from taco trucks to fancy restaurants and tax the whole mess.
You think fast food workers have self esteem and minimum wage issues....imagine the prostitutes of a "properly" legalized world. A number of high end escorts that relatively few could afford, and thousands of sex-providing equivalents to the guy pushing the churro cart up and down the street.
I agree with you and I have no illusions about the galmour factor of the profession in question. But keeping it illegal only makes things worse for the women involved. And your comparison with fast food is totally appropriate - just as the fast food worker rarely consider their work a long term career proposition, so would the fast nookie workers, but at least they will be afforded the same legal protection.
Also, legalisation will destroy the economic base for prostitution-running gangs. Oh, wait, maybe that's why it isn't happening?
