back to article US spies' crazytech branch asks chip firm for 8-BIT-PER-CELL memory

The blue-sky researchers who work for the US intelligence branch have handed a contract to magnetic semiconductor firm Crocus Technology to develop memory that stores a whopping 8-bit-per cell memory to help keep the United States' intel secure. IARPA, the US Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity, has commissioned …

    Intriguing

It's just an impression but magnetic based systems seem to be more radiation resistant and higher density but historically have been a bit slower. Not an issue for things like smartcards or crypto storage keys.

Is IARPA the new name for DARPA or an expansion of them?

"Is IARPA the new name for DARPA or an expansion of them?"

No, according to their "history" page, they're just an unrelated direct rip off and they've only been around since '06

"IARPA’s structure was modeled on that of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency" and the name was intended to confusing funding congressmen.

Incestuous Virtual Circles which Generate Ponzi Wealth with the QE Supply of Pretty Paper

Is IARPA the new name for DARPA or an expansion of them? .... Gene Cash Wednesday 10th April 2013 07:03 GMT

Methinks IARPA is an In-Q-Tel type clone and another inventing constructive funding stream to be fed with paper dollars to fund the American Dream model of existence.

And In-Q-Tel is a clone/arm of Qinetic which does the same sort of thing for the MOD, or it used to for Blighty? Although some would tell you that they could still be doing that peculiar service particularly badly in these postmodern virtual reality times.

The world is full of such parasitic streams that just appear to churn and launder cash through and into the Money System and systems which just loves its easy purchasing power ..... for with cash, now both in paper and digital electronic forms, can you buy anything virtually for free, although anonymously is something one needs to be more careful about, as that is trickier if you have something/anything to hide. Indeed, there are those businesses/programs/agencies/bods and bots which would warn you that it is nowadays impossible to hide the movement of monies and all transactions are a matter of record, which does have one asking a lot of pertinent impertinent questions as to why trillions are supposed to be lost everywhere whenever they are just stolen by perps known to the system.

Maybe the system is totally corrupt to its core and right down through all of its executive head office administrations?

Nice one, BOE, and not so much an Old Lady but rather more the Expensive Whore of Threadneedle Street?

QinetiQ is the privatised, less classified parts of the old Defence Evaluation and Research Agency. The really sensitive stuff was kept in house at https://www.dstl.gov.uk/

    8-bits, 256 states. Tricky.

I've seen a 64k cell analogue sound chip. The data sheet claimed it was able to store about 250 levels per cell. I think it used EAROM technology.
