While you could be forgiven for thinking that this is smoke and mirrors, IBM's marketing has not been helpful, the underlying technology is actually very impressive. If you just look at the PureFlex or Flex Systems' chassis, 40g uplinks (no one else does that), native SMP four socket blades/nodes (no one else does that), integrated provisioning from storage through OS (no one else), etc. It is best blade system on the market, but IBM, for whatever reason, does not want to put it that way. If they just set the Flex next to HP BladeSystem and UCS, everyone would understand the benefits.
