Good news for now....
Until the next lawyer finds a hole and it will start over again.
You Americans like litigation tooooo much!
Googorola is giving up on getting loads of Microsoft gear kicked off the shelves for infringing patents used in the video compression H.264 standard. Things were looking good for Google in its various suits back in May, when it won an injunction in Germany that applied to Xboxes, Windows 7, Internet Explorer and Windows Media …
Ambulance-chasers aside, lawyers most just want to work and get paid. We have a litigious culture because the market has decided in favor of it. Sometimes that's a rational calculation, based on expected ROI; sometimes it's irrational and driven by unrealistic hope for a huge gain, a desire for revenge, etc. But in any event, it's hardly the case that Google et alia are being dragged kicking and screaming into filing lawsuits by their legal teams.
And we seem to be doing a fine job of exporting that culture already.
