As for Kim Dotcom, if it's true the FBI cited files he'd kept to "help them", then I think there are clear lessons to be learned when it comes to cooperating with certain US law enforcement entities.
I overheard an AA Cabin Crew discussing their employer a few months ago. They were staying at the same Hotel I was.
"I prefer to fly the other AA rather than ours. Their Flight Attendants don't have the permanent hump.'
The other AA is Alaskan Airlines.
We were some 6,000 miles from Alaska at the time.
Even Uzbekisthan Airways offers a better in-flight service than AA and that is saying something.
Mines the one with:-
1) a decent in-flight meal
2) an E-Book reader
3) A video player
in the pocket as AA can't be relied upon to provide any of the above even in long-haul business class.
The Reg should have had a Christmas competition (though it's not too late for the new year) which asks, "Who would YOU like to disappear up their own arse in 2013?". The prize for the best answer? An economy class flight on American Airlines (or a bus ticket) to your nearest Ecuadorian embassy.

He was Microsofts 8th largest shareholder when Blamer concocted his last-gasp desperate attempt for some kind of relevance in mobile, and set him on his mission to infiltrate Nokia. Clearly doomed to failure from the start, his only success is in dragging Nokia down with them, but he'll naturally be very well compensated when he gets the boot.

"Assange has got nothing to do with technology, he just uses it as his delivery mechanism for his leaks." Perfectly true and completely obtuse at the same time. Technology by itself is nothing but geek froth, it is how technology is used that not only drives technological development but also defines the geeks of tomorrow. Businesses, governments, even educational institutions, all are USING technology because they have a (business) requirement to, not because they think "oooh, shiny". Therefore, the means and methods by which A$$nut makes (mis)use of tech to attain his goals is just as pertinent as the most altruistic, scientific researchers' use of systems.
Not sure I agree that the Dotcom trial has got less visceral, and while I might agree that he's trying to stir controversy, he has had nothing but wins against what might loosely be called the New Zealand Government. It's all rather hilarious for us down under, until we remember that when he wins all those law suits he is bringing, we'll be the ones paying the damages from our taxes.
