back to article US Immigration service won't drop BlackBerry after all

    Wonder why?

Pure speculation on my part, but I'd guess that BlackBerry Balance might have had something to do with it. For organisations with data to properly protect *and* employees who want to use their mobe for their stuff too Balance is looking like a good thing.

      or more likely

RIM offered a truckload of Blackberries for free.

Or maybe, just maybe they found out how well those transitions are working at those listed agencies: No centralized management, nightmares controlling unauthorized software, etc. And the worst surprise of all is that once you've solved the unauthorized software problem, it seems trivial compared to the new problem of purchasing, distributing, and installing authorized software, especially if the authorized software happens to be FREE.

How do I know? Yeah, that's right. I'm a help desk worker at one of those listed agencies. And from the conversations I've had, I think the only person in the org who doesn't think it was an epic fail is the whole arse who ordered the change.

I hope Research In Motion recovers

It's a shame that so many RIM jobs are no more.

      I blame high fiber diets

With so many of beans and apples to go around the whole experience can become a bit too unsavoury.

    Meh

Variety is the spice of life

ICE is security concious, after all they are the ones who chase down kiddy porn dealers and other ne'er-do-wells.

The other thing against RIM is the US preferential supplier (buy US first), after all most Americans think the best things come fro the States ignoring the fact most of their 'things' come from China.

Does Obamarama still use a RIM?

        Read it properly

He says the 'thing against' RIM. That is, he's saying they're not American.

    National Transportation Board?

There is no US Government agency by that name. Do you mean the National Transportation Safety Board perhaps? Or the Department of Transportation?

    Thumb Up

    Quite right

End user's 'right' to play games and Tweet all day doesn't trump security, manageability or ability to replace spent batteries.
