    On the one hand...

    ... providers are pushed by market demand into becoming "dumb pipes", depriving them from ridiculous margins on specific services instead of simply being a data carrier. On the other hand, they're countermanding this by trying to grab ownership of the customer, rebranding him "consumer", then sold off to the highest bidder.

    Let's hope Vodafone don't end up writing their suppliers software for them......

    One standard to rule them all? not

    I can see a short term future when NFC works if you are on the same network as the other person or the transaction will fail. Long term mergers will happen and we get universal service. Not something that will drive uptake..

    Lets also hope the NFC system isn't supported by vodafone legendary customer service teams......
