back to article Anonymous doxes Cambodia after Pirate Bay arrest

Hacktivist group Anonymous has been up to its old tricks again, this time claiming to have hacked and uploaded a heap of sensitive Cambodian government documents in retaliation for the arrest and extradition back to Sweden of The Pirate Bay (TPB) co-founder Gottfrid Svartholm Warg. Warg was arrested in Cambodia by Swedish …

    Priorities.

"“You will find there lotsa stuff including Cambodian and Nepal drug trafficking authorities, army, consulates, Kyrghyztan and Ukraine classified documents, Belarus, India etc etc all related to Cambodian authorities and business. Also included internet banking certificate depos and clients which belong to the mentioned authorities.”"

So, uh, they wouldn't have released this stuff if Cambodia hadn't arrested Warg?

Well we all know how important it is to have one's priorities in the right order.

What is it with Sweden these days?

And in rely to "So, uh, they wouldn't have released this stuff if Cambodia hadn't arrested Warg?"

    - perhaps they wouldn't have taken the huge undertaking and associated risk of taking the data in the first place. I doubt it was pre-obtained.

      @nuked

How big of an undertaking could it have been if they did it so quickly? And if they thought that there was any risk, do you think that they would have done it? I doubt it.

Most of the murcan population may not know of Cambodia, but many Vietnam Vets know where it is. They knew exactly what they were doing when they invaded it before the president ordered them back that same day. They were constantly frustrated that they couldn't chase their enemies across that border.

And, more importantly, when will governments and agencies learn not to keep sensitive documents on internet-facing servers? They should restrict them to private LANs and internal networks only.

Cambodia did nothing but abide by the international treaties which it signed up to, i.e. serving Interpol's red notices.

".....if its not all bullshit...." And that's the problem - after the farce with the "FBI Apple UDID" list no-one is going to believe anyone even remotely associated with the Anonyputzs or Anti-Sec. The fact they managed to "hack" this data so quickly also makes it sound like a massive load of dross.

".....mainly cos its not just a ddos...." What, it's more impressive that the skiddies downloaded a script to look for security holes rather than a script to DDoS a site? Wow, you really are easily impressed!

"....having thier innermost secrets splashed everywhere...." I seem to remember Wikileaks assuring us the Manning dump was supertopsecret and groundbreaking, and it turned out to be 99.9999% boring. What's the bets this will prove to be exactly the same.

And lastly we have the motivation. It's not a case of "concerned citizens" hacking into an "evil dictatorship" to aid an oppressed country's people, it's a bunch of petulant skiddies whining about not being able to download other peoples' hard work for free. If you find that at all impressive then you are, in my opinion, a very sad individual.

Local Dupe talks out of his rectum again!

".....tens of millions of good citizens around the world?...." What "millions"? If that figure was even out by a factor of ten there would be no need for a Manning defence fund as contributions would be in the million dollar range by now. The truth is there is a very tiny but very vocal minority ("moronority", maybe?) that support Manning and his actions, the rest of the World either don't have a clue about him or what he did, or think he's just a very sad and lonely little man that couldn't hack it in the military or outside of it.

"......Nelson Mandela got by on less than that." Comparing him to Nelson Mandela is just stupid. Mandela had a vision, a real desire to improve the lives of others. Literally a BILLION people knew about him and supported his fight against Apartheid. Some people still call Mandela a terrorist (he did plant bombs), but very few would deny he is an intelligent, articulate man with exceptional strength of character, which helped him endure hi imprisonment. Manning is just a boy with very serious personal issues that threw a tantrum with the military out of self-interest, no higher morals involved, and appears to have the moral strength of lettuce.

When Mandela was released I was one of the billion around the World that celebrated. When Manning is finally released I doubt if even the lefty/socialist/anarchist blogs will remember who the little twit was.

when you stated "Literally a BILLION people knew about him (Mandela) and supported his fight against Apartheid," were you referring to the time when he was arrested in 1962 and sentenced to life in 1964 or 27 years later in 1990 when he was released from prison? Or sometime between those two dates, the citation thereof I know you will provide us.

Manning has 25 years to prove himself worthy of the comparison.

And so far as your "polling" is concerned, do you expect us to believe that you have been wandering around the four corners of the globe like Nanki-Poo with an abacus pressed to your breast tabulating Manning's popularity?

"Manning is just a boy with very serious personal issues that threw a tantrum with the military out of self-interest, no higher morals involved, and appears to have the moral strength of lettuce."

"Dutch legend has it that there was once a small boy who upon passing a dyke on his way to school noticed a slight leak as the sea trickled in through a small hole. Knowing that he would be in trouble if he were to be late for school, the boy poked his finger into the hole and so stemmed the flow of water. Some time later a passerby saw him and went to get help. This came in the form of other men who were able to effect repairs on the dyke and seal up the leak."

LOL, Local Dupe just can't help displaying his naivety from the word go! Even his title is a misquote, often attributed to Edmund Burke but actually never said by him.

".....You set yourself up as judge and jury and convicted and sentenced them...." Nope, I merely suggested A$$nut groupies like yourself should stop claiming A$$nut and Manning aren't getting dealt with fairly and in due legal manner open to public scrutiny. Your shameless shrieking about A$$nut not being given legal remit is particularly funny seeing as he had full recourse to the law in the UK, and I'm sure if his warrant had been rejected by the UK courts you would be the first to scream in delight, but when A$$nut loses and then runs like a common criminal you shriek about him not getting a fair trial? What a load of cobblers! All I suggest is that A$$nut should face his accusers in Sweden and then face those in the US if they should issue a waarant for his extradition. After all, if as you claim he has done nothing wrong but only saintly acts then surely he has nothing to worry about? ROFLMAO.

".....Evil isn't triumphing because of people like A & M...." Please tell that to the Afghan informers that A$$nut said he had no qualms about exposing. Please don't forget to mention that Manning didn't see fit to edit and redact any such details before he dumped the material to A$$nut without any assurance of where it would go. Neither of them could give a monkey's about anyone but themselves.

".....Evil is triumphing because people like you are blind to what's happening around them....." OK, let's just deal with this right now. I'm not young, I've actually been out and seen a lot more of the World than most people do. I therefore speak from a position of knowledge. I did my share of protesting as a student, I got suckered by the hype and popular messages, then I actually saw through the masks and got a good look at the self-serving people behind them. I also got out and saw the places they talked about and found it wasn't all black-and-white like they claimed. I visited countries behind the Iron Curtain before the fall of the Wall and, believe me, there were no "Workers' Paradises". Nor in South America, Asia, Africa or the Middle East. When you can even count off one continent you might have some relevant knowledge to bring to the discussion. Until then you are just providing an amusing insight into the non-working of the juvenile popularist mindset.

Indeed, Sir, you have a very fine prospect from atop the pedestal you have placed yourself upon

                        1) You did not respond to my charge that you have accused A & M of things which you can only really know by having spoken to them.

                        2) "a misquote, often attributed to Edmund Burke but actually never said by him." If Burke never said it who, pray tell, am I misquoting? I neither used quotation marks or mentioned Burke's name.

3)"stop claiming A$$nut and Manning aren't getting dealt with fairly and in due legal manner". Not I, Sir. Unlike yourself, I do not enjoy pissing into the wind.

4)" Please tell that to the Afghan informers that A$$nut said he had no qualms about exposing." Gladly, Sir, if you will tell the hundreds or thousands of Afghan babes, at their mother's breasts when the misguided rockets from the drones blew them sky high.

5)"I'm not young" Well, I was born in May 1939 and I am, no doubt, older than you. I am, therefore, entitled to the same respect from you that you expected from me.

6)" I did my share of protesting as a student" I almost died protesting the war in Vietnam in December 1967. I was in the hospital for 8 weeks. How does that compare to your protesting?

                        7) England, France, Italy, Switzerland, Holland, Spain, Morocco, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, the Orient Express to Istanbul, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and the Western Wall. All on three different trips.

                        8) University of Chicago High School (degree) University of Pennsylvania with a year in the Wharton School of Business (degree in history.)

                        9) Expect when discussing God, I do not speak in absolutes the way you do. I have absolutely no concern what others think of what I think, unless they are holding a revolver to my head. Right or wrong, all of your beliefs are so strongly held I get a headache when they're on the screen. Perhaps that is your role here. Your shtick, as they used to say in the Borscht Belt.
