    That link has to have the absolutely, positively worst Orstrain accent I have ever heard.

    The only thing missing was he didn't say Fosters or G'day Bruce.

    But you explained it right in the sentence before.. It was un-patched and forgoten, like a lot of government IT systems.

      Because government (and for that matter, every other) typically run an extract, load the live data into a development system and then do their development work against this copy of the data/systems. What is missing is the subsequent cleanup of this copy of the data.

      It's happened before and it will happen again.

    ...doesn't the might Anonymous do something useful for a change...like, say, penetrate Skype and prove once and for all that they aren't funnelling their data right to the NSA.

      Or maybe downloading 40GB of data on an Aussie connection (Let's average it to 6Mbit/s) was just gonna take too f***ing long! An that's if they're in the country, who know what speed someone in Sweden would get.

        They had the problem with processing it, not downloading it.

        Processing data spread across multiple database tables requires a little bit more skill than just running a script.

        If you don’t have the skills to write your own scripts to extract and merge specific fields from specific tables then you use something like excel to do it for you.
