    Kim Dotcom is "Not Supported"

Part of me really wants to sympathise with Kim Dotcom. However on visiting his blog with the latest Firefox 10.0.6esr I get just a blank page with "Browser not supported, Please update your browser". As a result I can only assume he's a self-facilitating media node with no technical ability or real business acumen.

      Got a link?

Why not just update your browser

to the current FF stable version, 14.0.1, rather than expecting a new website to support an outdated version of a browser which can be updated for free ?...

Methinks Mr. Dotcom needs to re-evaluate the situation.

I think the Republicans are more in line with the anti-file-transporting set than the Democrats.

Please note that I don't support any particular religion^W political party ...

Couldn't agree more. I don't see Romney R-money helping the situation at all. Here is a perfect example: http://www.examiner.com/article/mitt-romney-vows-to-ban-pornography-by-installing-a-filter-on-every-u-s-pc

    I was surprised..

I was surprised at the extent to which the local police kissed USA bum and descended on him with armed SWAT and all - massively overacted on insufficient evidence (according to local judiciary).

I'd have more sympathy with him, though, if he wasn't such an egomaniac jerk.

I thought he would be a jerk too by default from all the press snippets Ive seen. But after actually watching 45 mins of interviews and hearing him speak fully (eg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvrRaeHD5TE) I am totally swayed the other way.

Why do otherwise decent countries around the world keep bending over for uncle Sam? + Doesn't this make New Zealand citizens uneasy with their government knowing that they'll let this sort of thing happen?

It does. Anyone interested in politics here knows the current PM will brown nose the US or BigBusiness (tm) at every opportunity. The trouble is that this make very few of us. People are more interested in sports (or fishing or the latest TV show etc).

    Duelling egomania?

Even "egomaniac jerks" are entitled to due process of law.

This debacle was simply Mr Key doing his obedient poodle routine for Uncle Sam, and over-ruling rightful Police objections as to the (il)legality of the process. Crown Law Office assisted the minister in charge of making us look like a banana republic (aka "Minister of Justice") with pushing the operation through against Police objection.

I'd be interested to know whether the "SWAT on steroids" approach was Police making a point about the excessive stupidity of the operation, or whether the Politicians managed to find enough nutters within Police to put together what they must have presumed would impress our Imperial Masters. (Sadly, it's more likely the latter.)

By the way, how many millions in damages do you estimate we'll we be paying out to the "egomaniac jerk" after the courts toss this little operation onto the scrapheap alongside the other recent government over-reach cases? Do you think Uncle Sam will reimburse us?

    More suspicious developments:

Nah, no political string-pulling in this case... It's all that evil fat foreigner being an evil-doer and panicking Hollywood's geriatric egomaniacs.

I think the judge had to step down from the case because he openly spoke out against it. It's a silly way to run the law, but if you complain about the case, you can no longer judge it impartially. It needed to get thrown out before it became a case. :(

Lies, damned lies, and statistics .... are all that crashed intelligence systems offer

Judge Harvey made the comments at NetHui during a conference discussion on copyright and trade talks with the US. He referred to a tweet which had played on a reference to cartoonist Walt Kelly: "We have met the enemy and he is [the] U.S."...... Dotcom judge quits the case

Well, is he [those who think that they run U.S.America and the world] the enemy and as a cuckoo in a feathered nest ...... or the great global benefactor delivering all that we need?

Keeping things simple always reveals the made complicated lies which conceal the honest truth.

And whenever the truth is freely shared, what is one to imagine of those who would be reasonably expected to use it to good advantage but don't? Does it identify them as also intellectually challenged and unfit for Future Great Virtual Game Purpose? And let us imagine that we are talking about those services which are perceived of as providing intelligence/compelling strategic and tactical analysis on information flows monitored and mentored in ...... well, the ether/cyberspace ...... to nations/nation state heads and/or affiliated non-state actor players.

Or is the intelligence flow the other direction in a mad, mad, mad, mad world situation? :-)

No I seriously doubt he does. But it is a clever way to draw attention to the massive injustice with how his company is being treated, and will keep the debate out in the open air, rather than in Gitmo style basements of a Sony sponsored dungeon somewhere.

Not that I'm a fan of KD by any means...

Have to congratulate the US government, the MPAA, the RIAA and the local vassals

in New Zealand - they've actually made me feel sympathy for and brotherhood with «Kim Dotcom». Not a mean achievement, but they did it all by themselves with just a wee bit of help from all their money and their thuggish SWAT teams....
