back to article Governments may hit social networks with cyber attacks

Social networking operators like Facebook and Twitter need to consider themselves much more vulnerable to attacks – not because they are more vulnerable or more attractive to criminals than previously, but because states are now actors in security threats. According to Phillip Hallam-Barker, vice-president and principal …

    Wake Up, JSON ....... Smell the Cocoa.!?

    Hi, Richard,

    Are not all disruptive and novel cyber attacks launched, and piloted remotely on their stealthy missions, by virtual state actors …… a situation which presents the opportunity for rapid anonymous growth in the sector, controlled by such practically invisible, virtual state actors who may or may not choose to favour one nation state/executive administration/NWO club over another and all others, in a mercenary, plausibly deniable role?

    And ideally, would the much smarter and smoother operator not provide such an internet service to many/all so that an active virtual state leadership supplies events for following and engagement …….. Present Realisation.

    Indeed, it is certainly already well recognised as a valid concern and possibility, and therefore most likely probability and current work in advanced persistent threat progress …… http://www.nationaldefensemagazine.org/blog/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=791

      Oh ..... and you might like to consider the proposition and actuality, that to those in know, and those others with a need to know just what those in the know would supply them, is Present Realisation akin to Future Virtualisation, and it is that which one needs to be au fait with to have any remote chance of having an impact upon upcoming events ..... tomorrows news on current views ...... which whenever you see or will read or hear of them, will already be of past "dead" events which you will have no influence over, but which most will probably imagine will shape the future.

      Can't very well have Security Theatre without them.

    I thought the arab spring WAS caused by the US government. In fact I thought all the riots were caused by them - otherwise why would we have a brand name 'Arab Spring'?

    Don't worry, be frightened.

    The obvious implication of all this is that the governments worried about an 'Arab Spring'-like revolt must feel guilty about something.

    After all, most of the Arab spring revolts were a direct result of oppression of the population with force.

    You have to ask yourself what they are planning? I mean, the brainwashing and de-education seems to be working ok - what's the next logical step for them?

    If they have nothing to hide etc.

    Bootnote: personally speaking I think we are far too late in the day in the west. Special interests just have too much money to play with. As long as power is a direct correlation to money the people will lose unless they have something solid to rally against. You can't mobilise a mob to fight 20 different ghosts after all.

    !!!OMFG!!!

    It's nothing new that governments and agencies will do all they can to limit the use of any tools that facilitate opposition to them. Were Facebook and Twitter really not aware of this already and needed telling?

    Bring It On

    We already expect this and we prepare against it. We already have detailed plans for making

    <list>

Low-observable telecom links

Anonymous Signals Intelligence

Anonymous Acoustics Monitoring

A Liberty Search Engine

Free As Speech replacements for FB, Twitter

Wholly new types of anonymizers

Wholly new types of cryptography

    </list>

    Of course, these plans are most useful when release in an emergency. Otherwise the MIC could prepare their countermeasures. I suggest everybody gets hold of some amateur radio literature so that you will be prepared to create your own gear as soon as the need will arise. Also, don't throw away devices which contain

    <list>

high-speed Digital-Analog and Analog-Digital Converters

FPGAs

HF Power Transistors (CB radios !)

TTL ICs

Microwave transistors and diodes

    </list>

    so that you can actually build your liberty internet components.
