"Watmore was retiring to occupy himself with "spousal roles" in charity and sport"

His missus is about to be ordained in the CofE.

As for IT slasher - can this be the very same Ian Watmore responsible for the new IT systems at the NHS? It surely can! Great cost-cutting expertise demonstrated there, then. I confidently expect to hear of lucrative directorships at Accenture and other organisations that have benefited from his largesse with our money.

Watmore's key competence appears expertise at playing the game - witness his hopping back and forth between public service and consultancy. No insider access there, surely..

    Public to Private

And not just those at the very top. Steve Lamey (allegedly the highest paid in HMRC) is leaving HMRC to become Chief Operating Officer for Kelway.

What does this say about the attractions of the Public Sector?

It seems more and more like

The civil service is just one more place a round tripping senior exec can visit as he builds up the value of his golden parachute to obscene levels. Or did this man get anything approaching a normal civil service salary?
