The Chinese government has demanded more trials of its homegrown 4G mobile broadband standard TD-LTE in hope of eventually rolling it out across the globe, according to China Daily. >after China’s 3G TD-SCDMA technology failed to gain traction outside the country.

    Or, indeed, inside the country.

Young Chinese lad that did some work for me. Good coder. Every time I gave him work: Hmm ... very challenging - it never sounded quite like you'd expect.

Quxy we are into really doing that to the outside world. We are just doing it to our self to lock people into their telco.

    LTE TDD vs FDD

TD-LTE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LTE_TDD) is variation of LTE (http://www.3gpp.org/ & http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3GPP_Long_Term_Evolution). So not exactly it completely different standard or completely homegrown. China is going TDD, whereas the rest of the world is going FDD. As well as wanting their own technology, it will be connected to how their spectrum allocation is done. TDD only uses one frequency, whereas FDD uses two paired frequencies (downlink & uplink).

    Why not?

I'm sure the fledgling MiniTru's and would be totalitarian states would love to get a chance to try a technology designed by an old school'er like the PRC.

      Re: Why not?

Not entirely designed by PRC, somewhat more international - see 3GPP standards at www.3gpp.org.
