    If you can afford six grand for a telly, you can afford two tellies. I can see the use of the two pictures/one screen concept in places like cars (I believe Jaguar do it so the driver can use the satnav and the passenger use the same screen for video), but in the home? It'll get used even less than 3D.

      Would you really want to have two 55" tellies side by side? I can see me wanting this tech so that my missus can watch her bloody awful singing/dancing/voting programmes while I turn to the Dave channel.

      No need to ponce about with recordings and we can both watch something we like in the same room at the same time. Makes sense to me.

        One major use I can see for this is Console gaming. 2 players in the same room, both having the full screen instead of split-screen? Yes please.

      I think it's a great idea. I can game whilst she watches Eastenders and Coronation Street, yet we are enjoying each other's company.

      On second thought, mine's the TV in the attic room.

      To be clear - I want it for the superb colour gamut, grayscale accuracy, response times, low power usage, etc. - not the 2 TVs in 1 feature.

        The left one looks rather plastic (bad lighting, to be fair on her).

        Fits in well with the plastic-screen OLED tech, maybe.

    Is it just me, or does anyone else find the thought of being sat next to somebody screaming at 'The Look How Desperate We Are For Cheap Programming Factor' whilst I'm trying to analyse the technical nuances of 'Building a Shed with Tommy Walsh' interspersed with 'Red Dwarf 3' a recipe for divorce?

      Never mind seperation of video...what about the audio? two sets of headphones required? Duplicated audio outputs round the back?

      How do you configure the remote? And how do you decide who's "in control"?

    Two pics in one

    ..as demonstrated in a *production* Range Rover last year, with it's TV/GPS viewing angle screen. It even impressed Clarkson on Top Gear (though it could be claimed he is easily amused).

    The one in the Rangie wasn't quite 55" though...

    There was a short story I read a long time ago: movies were projected using polarized light, with his and hers tracks: so when the steamy luuuurve scene came on, the guys would see the camera zooming on on the hot starlet's longing face, and the girls would see the camera zooming in on the studly leading man's mug.

    A reporter was at the screening of the newest flick, starring the current male icon of studlyness and the current female icon of hawtness, both of whom were in attendance for the premier. Everybody gets their gender-color coded glasses (blue for boys, pink for girls, natch). The lights dim, the movie starts - and the reporter sees the Stud and the Babe switching glasses.

    Obviously, this TV, like all new tech, is being driven by that driving, pulsating engine of all innovation, porn: this allows his and hers viewing.
