    So she's to blame for the single white pixel (which should, aesthetically, be transparent) between the thumb and forefinger of the 'panning' hand cursor?

    Hardly just for Fanbois...

    ... after Apple, Ms Kare also designed the icon sets for Windows 3.1 (including the card deck for Solitaire), and Eazel's Nautilus desktop on Linux.

    If you've used a computer in the last twenty years, you'll have seen the effect of her work: many of the "standard" metaphors used in GUI icons are based on Kare's work, and I'd say the Windows 3.1 icon set has been more influential than the Mac originals. (The Macintosh UI used icons for nouns, primarily, whereas Windows used them for verbs too)
