This Is America, Of Course They Have Guns

      Duh.

I grew up near the University of Chicago. They started up their own private PD when 5th Army HQ left and we no longer had MPs patrolling the neighborhood. (The MPs were impressive- rougher than Chicago PD.) It quickly became the 3rd largest police force in the State of Illinois- over 100 cops. Don't know about now; but back then the UCPD packed impressive amounts of firepower.

        It may go by campus

The University of Pennsylvania is in a pretty scruffy part of Philadelphia, and indeed the Penn cops carry pistols. Do the cops at (say) Albion College in rural Michigan carry firearms? Maybe not.

Leaving the Drexel campus gets rough too! Taco Lou's FTW!

    Meh

    TO STEAL HUGE DATABASE

Hmm I cant quiet see the 'steal' aspect of this headline in the story. looks like a typical campus hack; up grades & steal campus cash.

"the username and password of a pilfered university staff member"

These keyloggers are getting sophisticated nowadays. A WHOLE staff member? Good work!

      No...

...but it looks like the guy might be talking in a very squeeky voice having had his "member" stolen.

    Really?

Just 15 Years, that's a lot less than McKinnon may receive and this Prick Daniel Fowler was far more malicious.

      I agree!

Just another example of why our extradition laws need re-writing. He could and should be tried in the UK where he would be treated with some leniancy, considering his autism and that it is dubious that he actually caused any damage.

    Seems lazy.

They install malware left, right & center, and have a detectable crime [siphoning off cash from students --- of course about half will quickly notice! They should know their balance upto the nearest pint!].

So it's a bit strange they're too stupid/lazy to at least make it look like somebody else did it. [Maybe he did that, hence the denials of the accomplice.]
