    It'd be a long wait for another flight.

    I count 63 astronauts on NASA's roster. There's (roughly) three berths at a time for USAnians on the ISS. And the pilot astronauts are unlikely to be first choice.

    Surely with the Shuttle Program coming to an end, there'll be nowt for him to do at NASA anyway?

      Come on Ryan 7, cut the guy some slack. His wife nearly had her head blown off by some nut and maybe he's realised what's important in life.

    Its probably a good time to leave - he'd have a better chance of flying into space with SpaceX or Virgin Galactic
