    Scottish?

    "a Scottish super"

-> No, it is an American (Cray) supercomputer

    "Scotland's Hector supercomputer"

-> HECToR is a UK national supercomputer service, not just for Scotland - the supercomputers just happen to be based near Edinburgh

"what the University of Edinburgh is planning to do"

-> Actually, the HECToR service as a whole is "owned" and managed by EPSRC on behalf of Research Councils UK. It is EPSRC/RCUK who plan/decide the upgrades - albeit in collaboration with Edinburgh University and other partners.

    Misnomer

Wasn't Hector one of the Heavy Water reactors used in Winfrith? Ah the glory frontier days of British atomic experiments.

Just checking for an isotope or three.
