If you've ever watched BBC's click you'd think we were all moving to cloud computing. Here comes a dose of reality.
I'm sure the cloud has it's applications (good ones too), but just as we wont all give up desktops for tablets, I can hardly see all data going into the cloud either, especially with Internet provided by BT. Just another little reminder that data in the cloud lasts only as long as the host feels like.
On another note....
Maybe they should have done a slow brand transition. Youtube -> Gootube.....

But then, they've been offering remote storage for years so I guess those who use BT have had 'cloud' access for many years. Then there's Flickr and all the other sites that somehow have been around for ages but also somehow not 'cloud'. And there's those of us who have used multiple email accounts to keep stuff.
Apart from remote applications and processing what's new? - oh, hang on, what about those who have let thier machines be used for code crunching for years, not cloudy enough?
I guess no-one has used things like remote pdf conversion, either.
I think we're already there, just no-one had thought of re-inventing it and running seminars to line thier pockets.
Agreed, "cloud" is just marketing speak for what people have been doing for years (IRC?).
But then the same is true for "social networks" - people think it started with facebook or Friendster, but BBS' and forums were doing the same thing since the 80s (sans Farmville).

What you are denoting as cloud in your post is server / client applications. Cloud is in effect this re-branded.
Cloud probably has its uses though at the moment to me it seems just the same as we have always had. Server (yes more resilient but what else?) / Client. Oh and don't forget your not running the servers someone that only cares about their business model and not yours is.

Cloud is just a fluffy marketing term for all the client/server, SaaS, IaaS and PaaS technologies we've seen over the years. It's something that managers and accountants can "get" without being terrified by the tech-speak.
It's Web2.0 hype with a fancy management GUI on top.

Because they're not their videos to move.
Because they can't just go creating new user accounts for people on Youtube who didn't ask for them.
Because when they were uploaded the user accepted Google Video terms and conditions, not Youtube's.
Because it's a good opportunity to loose a whole heap of abandoned and/or duplicated junk.
Google says they will delete my video on May 14. They say they added a download button to the "video status" page. The problem is the link is broken. I am unable to find any download button or "Video Status" page. Another user post a question on Yahoo answers with the same problem and the question was removed. I have not found a way to contact Google. Of coarse of I done numberous searches.
You are correct, it's not a technical problem, it's INCOMPTENCY.
All we need is a button "Migrate to Youtube" and then ask again for our Youtube login and that's it - in my case the later is the same Google Account so there's nothing to create at all.
It's the typical lousy-managed, nerdy-chaotic crapshoot decision Google shows more and more - 2 years is not enough to create such a script?
Reminds me to their shitty-quality so-called "Enterprise Support" behind Google Apps Business where you have to fight your way through half-idiots constantly dodging your requests with retarded nitpicking at every single step...

Got an email notice that they have implemented *exactly* what I was looking for and indeed, there is now a button to move over ("upload") to Youtube your GV videos and it WORKS. And it's IMMEDIATELY done. :)
