We're obliged to shocked reader Darrin Maunders and indeed to all of you who emailed to express your disgust at copping an eyeful of filth down at YouTube over the weekend. YouTube's Latest TV box, showing naked couple Despite his distressed state, Darrin was able to keep it together long enough to send us a screen grab of …

    outrage

    You should have seen the comments section on the video, it was hilarious;

"utube is ded to me now how can they show this sick filth to children"

good, well, fuck off then. Youtube doesn't owe you or your children a damn thing.

Yes it was in poor taste, I certainly wouldn't sit through the whole show (or indeed anything from Channel 5), but come on, it's "not that big of a deal". Everyone has seen at least one naked lady before, seeing one more is not going to scar you. So lighten up or get out.

PS. The real issue here being Youtube's apparent hypocrisy in letting Channel 5 upload videos that no other users would be allowed to. Well of course Youtube are hypocrites, they are run by Google, what did you expect?

The most powerful thing you can do in protest is install Adblock Plus. Bite the hand that feeds. Where did I read that....

      Hmm...

While I suspect that some of the comments were rather over the top (I can't be bothered to read them) I don't think it's entirely unreasonable to expect a site that has a "zero tolerance approach to nudity" not to be instructing your kids in how to use sex toys.

You will also note that the Reg thought that it was appropriate to put NSFW on the link to this page, which suggests that they may also be of the opinion that it's not appropriate to be showing people without their informed consent. To put it another way - flashing pictures of tits and sex toys on your monitor is likely to get you in trouble at work.

"To put it another way - flashing pictures of tits and sex toys on your monitor is likely to get you in trouble at work."

True, but I'd assume you shouldn't really be on YouTube in the first place.

          @Trarch

Yeah, you probably shouldn't be on The Reg either, but yet they still think that it's polite to warn their users when something isn't safe for work.

So, accepting that some people don't want to be presented with these sorts of images, or that there is a time and place for them to be viewed, what is the problem with people being a bit annoyed that their children saw them?

        Stop

        Age Ratings

TV Shows on Youtube have an age rating where you have to login to prove you are over 18...(DOB on profile)

So only children that would see this are LYING

    Someone's shafted

And I'm not just talking about the girl in the pic.

It was on the YouTube UK homepage for at least 10 hours yesterday, even if you had YouTube's "Safety Mode" (designed to block stuff that's a lot less blatant than that) enabled.

The thumbnail was clearly hand-selected, and whoever chose the thumbnail (or included the programme in the homepage ad rotation without checking what the thumbnail was) will be having a very bad day at the moment.

    WTF?

My innocent virgin birth son saw that clip picture yesterday..

and I had to take him outside and cmash his skull in with a brick that I found nearby. It was the only thing I could do after he saw that man and that lady enjoying themsef, he was ruined and no longer functional as a son.

Oh God, why did he have to find out how Other Kids(tm) were made?

I blame someone that isn't me for his death.

      My sympathies

I do hope that your son has learned his lesson from this - we have been far too lenient with our children and I am pleased to see someone satanding up for common sense and all that is decent.

As have just seen the picture I shall now be getting the scourge out of the cupboard and will be punishing myself until the carpet is soggy with blood.

I may also have to put out the eyes of my cat as it has also mistakenly seen the picture.

    bigger news

is that YouTube is now requiring you to link your YouTube account to a Google account. And they require an 8-character password for "security". Why the fuck do I need security on a YouTube account?

I found this out just now when heading over to YouTube.

    FAIL

    Censorship policy of Youtube

1.If you submit a PORN video we will delete it when somebody complains.

2.If you comment a harsh reality about us,our products or our partners your comment will NEVER appear.

P.S. : The nice looking AMOLED screen on Galaxy S is quite prone to "burn in",leaving ghost images burned to screen for eternity.Just google it.

    AMOLED burnage

Yeah, this is a known problem with this technology.

Interestingly enough the technology exists to make laptop and larger OLED replacement panels, apart from the heat issue; LCD tolerates direct sunlight just fine but OLED visibly degrades after tens of hours of exposure, or seconds if zapped with a Bluray pointer :-)

Thermal runaway is also a major problem, which is why the older screens had to use a heat spreader and heat conductive rubber on the back of the glass.

If it wasn't for all these problems then no doubt OLED would have long since replaced LCD.

Perhaps a useful trick would be a passive matrix B/W LCD with a transparent OLED placed emitter downwards in front to provide the colour when needed.

Could also double as a touch screen as the adjacent unlit red pixels can be used as sensors.
