RedGate's DotNet Reflector has been a popular commercial de-compiler for years.
Jad is a similar tool for Java bytecode. I have used them both and they have provided good insight to a number of projects. We also used them successfully for an integration project.
Basically, you do not choose a managed platform if you want to make it hard for reverse engineers.
Compare these to Boomerang (for C++) and you will see the difference in recovery!
