back to article Crossing the platforms: The Register checks in with Canonical's WSL alternative – Multipass

Canonical is preparing some festive fun for developers with a major release of its lightweight VM manager, Multipass. We took a look at the application at the start of the year, and came away impressed with Multipass as an alternative to the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) under Windows 10 for those seeking some Linux …

Damn - beat me to it but I immediately had a vision of Mila Jovovich. Hard to believe that it was 22 years ago!

        Thumb Up

        Re: Multipass

        I have had 4 copies.

I sold my DVD to CEX of it to make some room at home, that replaced a tape copy recorded from a faultly layer change DVD.

I now of course have the BluRay.

        1) Original faulty DVD.

        2) Copy on video tape, actually looked very good, used top end Sony VCR,and I mean really top end.

        3) Replacement DVD from publishers with working layer change.

        4) The Blu Ray

    When I ran

When I ran Windows 22H4 WSL had already been removed as the bag-o-crap that it was.

    Which, of course ...

.... raises the question of what exactly the point is of Multipass?

    Mir?

    Unity?

    And now Multipass?

    Because it's not ours!

And we know how well the first two worked out ( discontinued ).

I guess when you don't remember history ( that you have repeated several times ) ......

    Oh well.

    WSL, Multipass, pretty different things

WSL is a Windows specific way to run Linux under Windows.

Multipass works across operating systems allowing different operating systems, using different native hypervisors to run Ubuntu easily.

Yeah.... I'm amazed that fact wasn't right there in the article.
