    Also a big shame...

That in 20 or so years time we won't even be able to dig these devices back out draws and play with them (Al la old speccys, commadors, 386s etc) since all the services they need to actually function will have long since been shuttered too.

Its already happened with the likes of the Onlive consoles from a decade ago.

The sad thing is, that statement also no doubt applies to a number of 'innovations' that have not even been released / developed / imagined yet

I wouldn't be at all surprised if in 20 years, any Stadia hardware is good for nothing other than gathering dust.

Yeah just look at the Jawbone activity tracker wristbands, the company went tits up and because the app relied on the backend servers to work, and the wrist bands wouldn’t work with other apps they became useless junk.

Anything that relies on having internet connectivity to work is asking to become useless junk in the future. How many of the current crop of console and PC games will you be able to play in another 5 or 10 years time once the online servers are all switched off?

Not going to shed too many tears for anything that Google 'invented'. I most certainly do not want to see Harry Hill compering a "Google Users Do The Strangest Things" in a few years showing previously unknown footage right from AI Clip users' homes.

    Google Clips

Google Clips isn't anything a Raspberry Pi + camera and raspimjpeg can't do for $200 less, plus then you can be reassured only you are storing the creepy stalking funny cat vids.
