London Stock Exchange-listed tech box-shifter Softcat was taken to courts by a Leeds newsagent after the £832m turnover company failed to settle its milk bill. The cream-scooping company, whose gross profits last year were a wallet-bulging £136.3m, was being chased over an unpaid invoice of £840 for its Leeds office. The …

If you skim it feels as though it just goes pasteurise.

Sounds like he was the Softcat that got the cream

At least it wasn't an udder failure.

From the report it sounds as if they also ignored the judgement. Would they have noticed the winding up order if el Reg hadn't alerted them? Shame on el Reg for spoiling the fun.

Malik told us that the fat cats agreed to hand over the cream, saying they “were very apologetic” and “settled in full, very quick” once the court claim reached them.

Sounds like they received the form from the county cort enquiring if they wished to plead guilty, or not guilty, and instead paid him and asked him to vacate the court case.

    History repeating itself...

There was a time when "troubled Cambridge micro-maker" Acorn Computers couldn't get milk delivered because of unpaid invoices with every last one of the local newsagents and dairies. Because of idiot finance bods going "oh this little one doesn't matter"...

You mean to tell me that Acorn churned through every last one of its suppliers?

Always pay me bang on time

Odd, SoftCat have always been one of my better payers. Way to get paid appears to be to check the PO is in place and approved. Not sure how you'd do that with milk though.

It's good to see that he was paid but it really shouldn't have needed to go so far.

good to know they've got the basics covered

It's scandalous in our office, the problems we have with milk. (Especially when we have interlopers visiting. Coming here taking our milk...). Pretty sure the staff wouldn't stand to hear the deliveries arn't being paid (we might sit for it though).

Anyway at least it was settled without relationships really freezing over and that the matter can be put to pasture.

While there is an amusing side to it, and I appreciate the puns as much as everyone else, it is a symptom of unacceptable treatment of small suppliers, who can ill-afford to give this much credit.

Just pay your bills on time guys!

    1. anothercynic Silver badge

      Agree with David Nash...

... Small suppliers are being taken for a ride, and that someone like Mr Malik had to resort to a court order is downright stupid.

Also massive props to Mr Malik for handling this the right way. Well played sir, well played.

Sounds like the supplier pissed off the local manager.

      "no I can't post HTML"

This is the HTML encoded version of the link.

All you need to do usually is to bracket the URL (in double quotes) like this

      <A HREF="https://youtu.be/LesWfbkJJlQ" >

Followed by the string of text you want to show as covering the link

then add </A> after that text to terminate the link section

Use the "Preview" button to check the HTML has been recognised as correctly formatted.

Better than no supply at all

In a nearby Yorkshire town ....

There was a girl from Huddersfield

Who had a cow that wouldn't yield

The reason why it wouldn't yield?

It didn't like it's udders feeled.

    Sorry (again), i get worse.

It could almost be a parable of modern life, get the written agreement before you get the feeling.
