They should have used a different type of bird, maybe a shag or a bustard? I'm quite fond of tits myself.

        genus Bugeranus

Thrushes are also good. The Tibetan Blackbird (a thrush) always reminds me of senior manglement: Turdus maximus.

In a barbed remark to manufacturers....

Was the barbed remark in Cantonese and addressed to someone that gives a hoot* about any westerners security?

    *required bird reference

Does this breach any data protection law? Somebody could find themselves up before the beak

Yes, El Reg readers aren't quite so gullible

El Reg readers aren't quite so gullible

That is a rather broad statement (ducks and runs)

          I believed it.

I saw a toucan in my back garden the other day...

But when I looked at it more closely I realised it was just a magpie eating a banana.

    Looks like a toy

that could be rather fun, once you hack it and replace the controller/firmware with something more fun/useful

    Fuck it

I used to have one of these, got rid coz it was shite (bought as a jokey present for wife).

If I'd known we could have turned it into a tourette-a-phone toucan it would still be living! (where did the tourette-a-phone go anyway?....minge!)

If you link enough of these things together do you get a toucan ring network?

Who needs a robot parrot to swear just get the real thing. Mate has a parrot, common phrases spoken

    "G'day dickhead"

    "Nice tits"

    "Blow Me"

    "Me so horny"

Could be a feature for the adult version.

I'd buy a electronic parrot that randomly insulted guest to the house....

    The Pirate Captains Pal (tm)

Smart, Connected (that's clearly what 'smart' means),

    - gratis, update every day with new swear words (a special seasonal one at xmas)

    - enter your d.o.b to our 'anonymised' (yeah, we don't know what that means) db and you'll get a special swear word on your birthday....

    - Slightly offensive virtual assistant, with Amazon echo - like capabilities (TBD).

Think of the children ? Of course; imagine the education value of at least two new words added to their vocabulary a day, that's better results than many schools....

    Joke

    Something to crow about.

I remember when dangerous toys from China involved lead-based paint. Then it was noxious urine-smelling plastic. Now it is lax security on electronics to turn a toy parrot into a potty-mouth? They're making huge strides both in technology and in safety!
