Shades of Jacqui Smiths raid on Parliament

Remember when the police raided Parliament without a warrant looking for a leak from Jacqui Smiths office, and took over Damien Greens office in Parliament and seized his Parliamentary documents?

I just Google'd that and read what the police say there, its an amazing claim.

They say they don't need a warrant, they can search and seize anything they might find of value. They make this bizarro claim: You can apply to a justice of the peace for a proper warrant if you believe that you would not be granted entry under section 3.

Which they claim REQUIRES that you need to believe you will be refused entry in order to be allowed to apply for a warrant!

So, because they might be granted entry voluntarily, they assert they can't ask for a warrant to gain entry legally!

Self regulation does not work. I shouldn't have to have seen that on Wikileaks, that is appalling.
