back to article Japanese artist fined for virtual vagina files

Artist Megumi Igarashi - aka "Rokudenashi-ko" - has been fined ¥400,000 (roughly £2,560) for distributing 3D printable files of her genitalia - an offence under Japan's obscenity laws which prohibit the depiction of reproductive parts. Igarashi was cuffed back in July 2014 for supplying virtual ladyparts via email to a "30- …

Not sure why its "hypocrisy"? The reason images of this ladles 'bits' are illegal is because its unlawful in Japan to produce images of genitalia that aren't censored. A completely different matter from why they should/shouldn't ban pornographic images of children in manga and animated films.

Now given white folk tend to go "she looks about 10" about real Japanese women what chance do drawn characters have?

Well, Japanese prudishness takes a very odd form. First, it's not so much the genitalia that offends so much as the merest suggestion of pubic hair. Secondly, and I say this from the authority of extensive research, while the male and female genitalia might be pixelated, they have no problem with objects of various descriptions being pushed up the anus, often in extreme closeup.

How they feel about particularly hairy arseholes, I'm not sure. I shall return to my researches once I get my breath back.
