back to article HPE targets Nutanix, squeezes into hyperconvergence suit

Hewlett-Packard Enterprise has Nutanix in its sights, with a hyper-converged server due this month. HPE’s chief executive Meg Whitman has revealed a ProLiant-based virtualisation server is coming, which she claimed would be easier and cheaper to use than Nutanix. HPE is taking on some familiar old names including Cisco, Dell …

    minutes?

HP has claimed this for a while

"Deploy a complete virtualized environment in <15 minutes"

my environments are mostly HP, nothing converged though.

Maybe not yet, but it's coming. Trust me, it's coming.

Once VxRail releases, it'll use Dell servers. Why would it use anything else? After all, Dell owns EMC and EMC will do what it's told.

        A few points.

        1. VXrail is available today and it is NOT on Dell hardware.

        2. The Dell/EMC deal, while being on track, has NOT yet closed and there is no hardware partnership between EMC and Dell at this point in time.

        3. I am not 100% sure which ODM is being used for the VXrail kit but it will PROBABLY be Quanta who are the ODM for the VXRack and ScaleIO nodes.

    Yet more validation

It's nice to see that, after six (6) years, the industry has finally recognized that webscale technology is superior to SAN-based architecture.

      Re: Yet more validation

Only if you write your apps in a webscale way. Which 99% of places don't do.

HP or dell etc are not crazy enough to suggest putting mission critical stuff on hyper converged anything.

    WTF?

    VxRail based upon Dell servers...

    Oh no it isn't....
