    Eggs. Meet Basket!

    Great idea, Ireland.

Don't actually invest in producing anything yourself. Just base your entire economic future on enticing American mega-corporations to stop off there for a few minutes, on their way to the tax office.

    What could possibly go wrong?

Not tax office, data protection office.

So much for Facebook claiming that Shrems means nothing as they have provisioned for it in their T&Cs.

Ireland have been doing this for years. Baxter, APC, Dell to name a few - all three have now scaled back their presence in the republic over the last 20 years.

    Management

"Hmm, wonder why it chose Emerald Isle location?"

Because their EMEA DC manager is Irish? Who ensured his previous employers "hosted Irish" too :-)

These things matter if you're not closely supervised. I made unofficial enquiries myself about the validity of the metrics they used to pick new locations, and found that network costs were not included and "tax advantages" were added to Irish locations, despite the company concerned paying the same amount of tax (sod all!) in both Ireland and the UK and with both having current DC's operating.

A few do, but most are loath to due to the copyright issues of animal selfies.

They settled that one. The monkey does not have any rights, the photographer does.

    Right to be forgotten

Facebook makes any photos uploaded to it available indefinitely, and they were notified of this bug/'feature' years ago. Will this make any difference?

All that is needed is the URL of the image. Even if the person has their profile locked down in every way. Even if the user has 'deleted' the image from their facetard. Even if the nonce/spook/terrorist/employer doesn't have an account.

So much for setting permissions to "Friends only".
