Last year Uber launched in Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh. However, it is unclear what Lyft's global expansion plans are.

Can one presume, whilst welcoming the cash injection, they will not be launching the service in Saudi Arabia, any time soon?

Money talks, equality goes out of the (driver's) window.

Would they be allowed by Saudi law to hire female drivers? Would the religion of prospective female drivers be, in the eyes of Saudi law, a factor in a female being allowed or being prohibited from working as a driver? Or would civil status, i.e. being a temporary foreign worker or a citizen be a factor?

It would be interesting to know.

    Valuation??!!

$248M is ~5% of the value of the Uber clone who lost the branding war? Good thing those Saudi Princes can just pump wealth out of the ground. A fool and his money are some party.
