back to article Plucky Playmonaut parties as LOHAN hits Kickstarter goal

It's with the traditional portentous drumroll and mighty fanfare of trumpets that we announce we've hit our Kickstarter target to take the Low Orbit Helium Assisted Navigator (LOHAN) mission to Spaceport America. Thanks very much to all our generous backers, and we're right on the case sorting the magnificent rewards which …

Not sure about the one in the bikini ...

... but aren't the other two Mel and Sue off of The Great British Bake Off? I wondered what they did the rest of the week.

I dunno, the one on the left looks more like a younger Mary Berry to me, complete with bomber jacket.

I need to get out more...

Rather pleased to be donor 625 after someone thoughtfully left a nice round 50 to reach the target. Bon voyage mighty Playmonaut :)

someone thoughtfully left a nice round 50 to reach the target.

I added 1p to one of my pledges in the hope of getting it to say "£30,000.01". But it didn't :-(

    New Kickstarter needed

Right then, that's the first lot of money spent on the party.

That champagne and Colombian marching powder isn't cheap, nor the 'dancers'.

    Fantastic

Really cool to see a tech rag have its own space program.... Not long before we're looking at an orbit attempt (pleeeeeeeeeeeease)

      Re: Fantastic

I don't see why that's not feasible, actually... with a bit of a cheat.

      Balloon launch. Check

      Self navigating. Check

LOHAN II* would just** need solar panels and electric powered propellers to circumnavigate (IE: kind of orbit) the Earth!

*Not the actual name, mind. Maybe something like, JOAN - 'Jaunty orbital aerial navigator?

**'Just' he says, pfah! Yeah, I realise it's lots more complex than that... but still...

        Re: Fantastic

No need for propellers. See here.

    Welcome to Las Cruces!

As a Las Cruces resident, a beer drinker, an astronomer, and (most importantly) a funder of LOHAN, I look forward to meeting everyone at the LOHAN-fest. Pass the grog!

Anyone else having problems with the "Response Needed" email?

I got one email (I'm expecting two) asking for my delivery address - but the link in it is 404.

Is this just a temporary issue, or is the system borked?

    Vic.

No idea. We've had a rack of replies this morning to the "surveys" as they call them. I haven't heard of anyone else having trouble.

OK, I've got one done by logging in to the website & doing it through there. That's the account that got the email.

The other account hasn't received an email, nor is it flagged as needing to fill in a survey on the site - have you sent them all out yet?

        Ta!
