back to article Eggheads give two robots vodka and tell them to text each other FOR SCIENCE

Academics have developed a method for delivering text messages through vodka spritzed into the air. Unlike conventional vodka-powered texts – which involve lemon drops, smartphones and lingering regret – this new experimental system uses the alcohol itself as the medium for delivery. The trio of researchers – Nariman Farsad …

    Needs more chemicals.

More chemicals to choose from means higher bitrate.

The smell of smouldering insulation can be the code for 'hardware failure: abort communication.'

I would imagine consuming vegetable curry / live ale would be considered a denial of service attack.

Probably a distributed one at that.

Yes, unfortunately the many azeotropes of ethanol will slow it down.

I have some ideas ... (see icon)

When do we get the RFC for IP over chemical networks?

Though I suspect that this could cause severe degradation in reliability for RFC1149 - based networks in heterogeneous environments.

    How it went down:

"I've been going over the expense returns, and it seems you've claimed for vodka. Care to explain yourselves?"

    Formicidae

To get a good idea of how to use this for complex systems study ants, they have been doing it for more than a 100 million years.

Personally if I had conducted this study I would have used a good aged dark rum like Pussers or Cacique, more aromatic and perfect to round off a day in the lab with a mojito or three!

I like how the robot gets loud after a few vodkas.

      What an Unfortunate Analogy

The team likened it to the pheromone and urine marking systems many animals species use to communicate over long distances.

Illustrating why it is called "getting pissed." I wonder if getting anyone trying to intercept the message drunk should be looked at as a security measure...

Perform a virus scan before connecting, or it might catch VDU.
