Yeah, but Christ, how many books will 500mb hold? Text compresses like nobody's business and it's minuscule to begin with. What, say, 500 pages at 10 words per line and 50 lines per page - well, novels are usually around 60k words on the short side? Say 100k to be generous, and 10 bytes per word... That only gets you to 1mb per book uncompressed. Does anyone outside of edge cases really want more than six or seven hundred books on tap at a moment's notice?
