My initial thought was you can lump other and entertainment together and then you'll have porn.

All together now, the internet is for porn, ..., so grab your dick and double click on porn, porn, porn

PS. Thank heavens for the AC checkbox

Actually, I did misread "waking" in the title and thought the numbers were very low...

Does arguing on forums come under "entertainment" or "games"?

...for your average punter. But to many regular readers of this site, I suspect it will be much higher.

I am a web developer by trade, and I reckon mine is probably more like 5-6, even excluding porn ;-)

Obviously those surveyed 'forgot' to mention their web use at work...

    WTF?

    Huh?

"Britons spend one in every 12 waking minutes on the internet..."

"...folks in Blighty are nearly always online unless they're actually unconscious..."

How does 8% of the time (1/12) translate to "nearly always"?

    This still begs the question..........

"Britons spend one in every 12 waking minutes on the internet, causing advertisers to splurge great wads of cash on online marketing, according to an internet advertisers' trade body."

................are they paying anymore attention than they do to telly ads these days?
