Anyone taking bets...

... that Apple's definition of "in a city near you" comes down to any city with a population greater than about 5 million in the contiguous 48 states of a certain North American country?

At least Tech-Ed happens across the world.

Ah, if only...

someone had invented a global network with the ability to communicate nearly instantly, say both to and from, a company and their customers.

Then Apple could use that to inform their customers, answer questions and post information on their future plans for the world to see and they wouldn't lose customers based on the appearance of marketing driven secrecy.

I know it's just a pipe dream...

Way back...

Way back in the mists of time Apple would occasionally hold Tech Talks all over the place, outside of North America, although usually at their offices. They weren't exactly frequent things, but they also weren't terribly uncommon either.

I've attended a few at Apple UK before at their Stockley Park offices. This was in the fairly early days of Mac OS X, I think one may have been after the release of betas, and others following announcements of 10.1 and 10.2. I'm fairly sure that they also held similar events in Paris too.

why not a rolling tech lab on a truck? I like the idea of a big pantechnicon coming into my nearest city where I can get specialist advice that the so called genius's cannot offer.
