    Assuming that YouTube content isn't hosted in Brazil, it seems that the Brazillian govt has stooped as low as the United States, in subjecting its laws outside its borders.

      Just like Britain and Canada. NOT NEW ZEALAND though, they.ve got guts.

      They also extend their laws outside their countries.

      And Britain even helps the US by allowing rendition flights here and loading Brits on to planes for the US.

      New Zealand, now there's an example of independence.

    From someone living in the country...

    ...the Brazilian government haven't stooped - that'd suggest this was out of the ordinary in the first place.

    The entire machine is run by a bunch of proud profiteering cowboys.

    Geo lock

    They do it all the time anyway.

    Geolock the video from getting to Brazil, but keep it up elsewhere. The judges order is respected and anywhere outside of that jurisdiction can still access it.

    Of course, that will not work with the good ol USA as their law applies everywhere, but hey... One battle at a time.

      It's possible that could be against the spirit of the order against them. I don't like it, but unless there is reform there, there's not much you can do.

      not really, it just apply to data stored on the servers hosted in their country. That is a very important detail that you might wish to keep in mind.

      Note, if the a USofA court decide that something is illegal and should be removed, then there is a high chance that you already broke the hosting company terms of service, so your stuff is going down either way.

      P.S. if a hosting company outside the USofA -with its servers hosted outside the USofA- decides to obey a DMCA take down request or court order, then please put the blame on the company. They should have blocked the content from being served to the USofA instead of taking it down.

    Seems Brazil just wants their own great firewall. If they were jealous of us here in the US they'd be out of luck as our governmonkeys have an eternal patent on being complete and utter twats righteous duty to protect ourselves from making our own decisions.
