eReader adoptees who miss the nostalgic niff of real paper books, can now coat their Kindles and Nooks in Paper Passion, a perfume that bottles the very scent of bookshops. The Paper Passion fragrance captures the odour of a freshly printed book, its maker claims, so if you share the late Ray Bradbury's sentiments that e-books …

    Yay

I'm getting this for myself. I always wanted to smell like a book.

Do they do one for DVD cases too?

Do they have a range of fragrances?

Its not just that 'new book' smell that's missing. What about the musty old smell when reading some classic?

Can imagine the damages claims for warranty invalidation.

While reading this, I was wondering if they'd extend the range to include the fragrance of 'book from charity shop'.

My company is bringing out a similar product soon - its a perfume with the fragrance of an old crusty porno mag. The main ingredient instead of water - or aqua as we call it in the trade ;) - is starch!

Yes but how do you get that particular "damp after having been left under a hedge for a week" scent that blokes of a certain age will recognise all too well!

Trade secrete! You'd be surprised who our supplier is though - its Network Rail! I guess there's just something about old jazz mag pages and railway sidings! Talk about leaves on the line!

    Stimulates movement?

Don't know about anyone else but whenever I go to a library or bookshop I can guarantee that I'll need a dump within 2 minutes.

Not sure if it's the general quietitude or the smell of paper, but if it's the latter then I can see this as being a cure for constipation!

      Re: Stimulates movement?

Maybe it reminds you of a little room with paper in the corner?

Ever get caught short with no toilet roll and had to resort to the printed word for cleaning material?

    Eau de Twat

    70 squid for a smelly book-in-a-bottle?

I could just buy the real deal in a second-hand bookshop for a pound, then leave it open whilst reading my Kindle. As an added bonus, I'd have something else to read besides a poxy label.

What next, Eau de Halibut, for those who can't get a girlfriend?

Already been done, by my wife, as an act of revenge. She wiped her dirty knickers on my kindle. I've had to wrap it in cellophane to preserve the smell though :)
