    or the flip, made the change, realised it screwed everything and rebooted to clear, only to realise they had committed it.

    Seen it happen both ways to many times.

    "CEO Lawrence Jones" should read "CEO Lawrence Jones MBE". Surely by now he must have changed his name by deed poll.

    Businesses have these sorts of issues all the time

    Unfortunately that's all too true for us at the moment.

    I'll also pass on to my team, who had issues getting through to UKFast and then spent all night and into the next day restoring service, that it just needed a reboot.

    You mean someone did a "reload" without a "write mem" before hand?

    You wouldn't believe the number of times our network group has configured a switch, boxed it up, shipped to site and then find out it has the default config when it's installed and powered up. All because of not using "write mem". It's like they let some pseudo journalists loose on it.
