If you trade in China, and I may be wrong, you seem to have to hand over or open your patents up to the Chinese so they can compete. This doesn't seem to be that different from what the Chinese are doing - self-protection.

I was expecting him to do the opposite, isn't that what he usually does when he's given good advice?
He's been pretty vocal about the Chinese being unfair competitors, so it isn't surprising he'd follow their advice. If it had been a country he likes, such as Russia, it would have been a different story.
